Congratulations to HK author Tim Lee, who is happy to announce his official retirement from the department of kinesiology at McMaster University on July 1. Tim is the author of Motor Control in Everyday Actions and coauthor along with Dr. Richard Schmidt on Motor Control and Learning and Motor Learning and Performance, both now in their fifth editions. Tim reports that he and his wife are looking forward to playing lots of golf and spending more time with their growing family—grandchild 5 arrived just two weeks ago. Daniel Trink came to the Champaign campus of Human Kinetics to oversee a photo and video shoot for his upcoming book High-Intenisty 300. From February 28 to March 3, seven models, HK’s photo and video crew, and the book’s editorial team were in the studio from 7:00 to 5:00 shooting both still photos and video. On Sunday they used the facilities at the YMCA while it was closed to the public.

Cathy Utzschneider, author of the upcoming Mastering Running, has been setting a blazing pace so far this year. She placed second in the 55-59 female age group of the 6K run at the 2014 USA Cross Country Championships in Boulder, Colorado, in February. She won the 3,000-meter run in the women’s 55-to-74 female age group at the 2014 USATF Indoor Championships in March in Boston, Massachusetts.

Bill Foran has been named one of top strength and conditioning coaches in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Foran, strength and conditioning coach for the Miami Heat since 1989, was the cofounder of the National Basketball Conditioning Coaches Association (NBCCA) in 1992. The NBCCA authored HK’s Complete Conditioning for Basketball, for which Foran served as editor.
