Nontraditional PE Activities: Minipyramids

Students can work in groups of three to five to develop various types of pyramids. Some examples are shown in figure 17.11. Encourage the class to develop different types of pyramids and allow time for them to share their creations with the rest of the class. Examples are the hip-shoulder stand, double-crab stand (see figure 17.11a), double-bear stand (see figure 17.11b), and shoulder stand (see figure 17.11c). Caution students to select a partner of similar size and to stand on the proper points of support.
