The Journal of Sport Management (JSM) reflects the rapid expansion of the field with its commitment to presenting outstanding original research and up-to-date information addressing all areas and subdisciplines in sport management. As the leading journal in the field, JSM focuses on the theory and application of management in sport, with a special emphasis on new trends and emerging subdisciplines.
JSM exposes readers to diverse issues affecting sport leaders, managers, employees, and volunteers as well as sport organizations in all sectors (i.e., public, nonprofit, and commercial). The journal keeps readers informed on developments in the discipline through short reports, editorials on significant issues, journal abstracts, book reviews, and news items of interest. JSM is used extensively by students and scholars in the numerous sport management programs in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
In past issues, JSM has published numerous articles written by leading experts in the field on topics such as sustainability practices in NCAA athletic departments, the effect of associated group identities on team identity, and managing globalization in sport. Richard Wolfe, PhD, is a professor in the University of Victoria’s school of business. Wolfe earned his PhD from the University of Michigan, where he received the Paul A. Hunsicker Memorial Award for demonstrating superior scholarship and professional zeal and promise. Wolfe’s research has appeared in publications such as the International Journal of Sport Finance, Sport Marketing Quarterly, European Sport Management Quarterly, Journal of Management, and Organization Science.
