The Overweight Client Online CE Course will increase your awareness, compassion, and understanding of the challenges that large-bodied and overweight people encounter during movement. You will learn how to create a size-sensitive training environment, encourage size acceptance with your staff, and incorporate specific exercises and modifications appropriate for training clients who are overweight. You will also gain the ability to better assist your clients in establishing goals for movement that offer empowerment rather than discouragement.
Define the term size sensitivity and understand how to create a size-sensitive environment.
Using specific strategies, redefine the goals of a client who is overweight.
Teach entrance and exit management and safety guidelines for the home and exercise facility.
Teach three breathing techniques.
Explain the anatomical approach to program design. List muscle groups that are affected by size, and teach the client how to maximize the efficiency of the muscles.
Use correct biomechanical techniques to assist the client in performing exercises and functional movement.
Outline the direct application of movement modifications to gym equipment and to activities of daily living and quality of life.
Instruct the client in proper cardiovascular exercise.
Make recommendations for skin care, foot care, and proper clothing for exercise.
Identify safety and boundary setting for both the trainer and the client.
Demonstrate how to create a long-term relationship with the client through a bond of integrity.

Rochelle Rice, MA, is a nationally recognized speaker, author,
and educator. She is dedicated to empowering women of size by connecting
the body, mind, and heart through focus, movement, and breath.
Rochelle is the author of Real Fitness for Real Women (Warner
2001) and creator of the Size Sensitivity Training program. She is a
certified health coach and is trained in somatic experience and the
CHRIS technique (Cellular Harmonizing Regenerative Integrative System).
Rochelle has appeared on ABC World News Tonight with Peter Jennings
and the CBS Early Show. Her program has been featured in the New
York Times, LA Times, Time, and Fit Magazine. Rochelle is a
