The Youth Sport Trust is a registered charity, established in 1994.
Our mission is to build a brighter future for young people by enhancing the quality of their physical education (PE) and sporting opportunities.
- We want to increase young people’s participation and enjoyment of PE and school sport.
- We want young people to have the chance to experience and enjoy different types of activity at whatever level is right for them.
- We want to ensure youngsters receive the best teaching, coaching and resources possible and have the chance to progress if they show talent.
- We want to help our young people to live healthy and active lives and to be the best they can be.
How we achieve our aims
Our objectives are achieved through the educational sporting programmes that we produce. These are delivered through schools and are supported by a range of corporate partners, trusts and foundations and government departments.
Another important area of work is our support of Specialist Sports Colleges. These designated sports-focused schools are at the hub of the government’s strategy to enhance young people’s opportunities to participate in a wide range of sports. They also raise the standards of teaching and learning in PE and school sport, and across the curriculum. To assist Sports Colleges in the achievement of these aims, we provide them with a framework of support and resources.
