Gary Player today celebrates his 78th birthday. Player is the prime example of longevity, health, and wellness in the professional golf and sporting worlds. He has been a proponent of healthy living through proper diet and exercise and has maintained an incredible level of fitness throughout his legendary golfing career. Player is recognized as a pioneer of fitness in golf and serves as an advisor and role model for many of today’s up-and-coming PGA TOUR stars.
Player continues to be a global face for health and wellness, as evidenced by being the oldest ever athlete to pose in ESPN the Magazine’s “Body Issue.” He also recently partnered with healthcare giant Humana to serve as a “wellness ambassador” and co-host of the Humana Challenge with President Clinton.
Player is still as fit as ever. His fitness regimen and diet allow for him to still regularly beat his age in rounds of golf. Player still exercises every day, focusing on cardio, core strengthening, stretching, and weight training.
