Rare is the sports partnership that helps improve a team’s business efficiency internally, while also helping enhance the fan experience. But that’s exactly what the Los Angeles Dodgers’ partnership with Citrix, makers of GoToMeeting, has done. Their deal was borne out of Citrix’s sponsorship deal with the AM570 Fox Sports radio station in Los Angeles, which holds broadcast rights to Dodgers games. While the Dodgers last year began using Citrix GoToMeeting with HD Faces for videoconferencing, this season, they’re leveraging the software to give Dodgers fans a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Through Dodgers Radio AM570 FOX Sports LA, fans have the opportunity to tell the team why they’re worthy of a videoconference, face-to-face meeting with a Dodger legend. A winner is picked each month during the season. Then, two hours before a predetermined game, the team sets up a computer in a Dodger Stadium suite so the fan and former player can relive old memories. So far, Dodgers legends Steve Yeager and Ron Cey have participated.
