This was the slogan used in Europe to introduce Nordic Walking to the community. Nordic Walking is a low impact but effective total body workout. Walking with specially designed poles and a learned technique has become very popular not just in continental Europe but also in the UK and in America. Here in Australia Nordic Walking is still a niche activity and many people (including those working in the heatlh and fitnes industries) haven't heard of Nordic Walking. Nordic Academy, the peak authority in the field in Asia Pacific trained about 80 instructors so far - most of them are health professionals who include Nordic Walking in their health programs. For more information visit www.nordicacademy.com.au.

I tried Nordic Walking once... it was great exercise, but kind of felt silly with the poles. I felt like I should be in snow with skis instead. It was great exercise though. Not sure what the older adult population would think about this form of activity... better or worse for balance??
