According to the Cooper Institute, one of Human Kinetics’ authors, Dr. Joe Winnick at SUNY-Brockport, is one of the developers of the Brockport text and Fitness Challenge software, which uses many types of fitness-related tests for children with physical and mental challenges.
The Brockport test and text and the Fitness Challenge software can be found on the Human Kinetics Web site at www.humankinetics.com . If you enter Brockport in the Search function, you will see several products. Also, if you would like to request a demo of the Fitness Challenge software, please contact Technical Support for the demo file.
The system requirements now include Win 2000 and XP. Click on the demo download link below the pricing info. The demo is good for 15 days.
Finally, there is a shorter distance for the 15-meter PACER:
You will need to purchase the 15-meter PACER CD for the proper cadence. From this Web page you can also download a conversion chart that converts the 15-meter distances for the FG 8.0 software so you can print reports.
So, you have three options:
- Follow Dr. Winnick’s suggestion for devising a test.
- Use the Fitness Challenge software for alternative aerobic capacity tests (although the PACER is included). It doesn’t appear that a test has been developed specifically for this population, but the tests in this software may be appropriate for your use.
- Use the 15-meter PACER option.
