It’s all good in El Paso, Texas, as the city begins construction on its new $50M-dollar baseball stadium. Last weekend, El Paso demolished it’s 10-story City Hall to make way for the new stadium, which was approved by voters in a November bond referendum. The $50 million ballpark will open next spring and host the San Diego Padres’ Triple-A affiliate. City officials expect the team and the stadium to help revitalize El Paso’s once vibrant downtown by bringing in new retail and entertainment activity.
The $525 million quality of life referendum that passed in November was by far the biggest public infrastructure investment in El Paso’s history. In addition to the baseball stadium, voters also approved a new downtown arena, and a children’s museum. And a $90 million dollar trolley system will connect the ballpark and downtown with other parts of the city.
It’s all good in El Paso.
