NFL Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

By Rick Horrow and Karla Swatek

October 5, 2012

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and few sports properties promote the cause more aggressively than the NFL.  Now in the fourth year of its campaign, the NFL continues to raise awareness and money for the fight against breast cancer.  Throughout the month, NFL players will wear pink gloves, cleats, and sweatbands, which later will be auctioned off to benefit the American Cancer Society.  Proceeds from these auctions have raised $3 million over the last three years.

One NFL partner joining the cause this year is Ticketmaster, which announced it will donate a portion of October NFL ticket sales to the American Cancer Society.  Like the NFL, Ticketmaster also will raise money by selling pink merchandise autographed by spokesperson and NFL Hall of Famer Troy Aikman.  All NFL tickets sold this month through Ticketmaster will be pink.

For both the NFL and Ticketmaster, the fight against breast cancer is a worthy cause that also helps reach their female demographics.
