Mike Trout Signs Endorsement Deal

By Rick Horrow and Karla Swatek

September 21, 2012

MLB rookie phenom Mike Trout has signed his first major endorsement deal with start-up nutritional drink company BodyArmor Superdrink.  Per the deal, Trout will be paid, but he’ll also receive a small equity stake in the company, which projects $10 million in sales this year.  Several other athletes also endorse BodyArmor, including Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski, Eagles RB LeSean McCoy and Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul.

Trout is having arguably the best rookie season for any player in MLB history, making him a favorite to win the American League MVP award.  In July, he was named AL Rookie of the Month and Player of the Month, becoming the only player to ever win both awards in the same month.  At 21-years-old, he’s also the youngest player ever to hit at least 20 home runs and steal at least 40 bases in a season.  Combined with Washington Nationals rookie Bryce Harper, the pair could be making All-Star teams, commercials, and Bloomberg BusinessWeek/Horrow Sports Ventures Power 100 lists for years to come.
