Human Kinetics congratulates authors for winning prestigious ACSM awards

Each year, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) presents the Honor & Citation Awards at the Annual Meeting. The awards recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the fields of sports medicine and/or exercise science, and we are pleased to announce that both award recipients this year are Human Kinetics authors.

Robert M. Malina, PhD, FACSM, is the 2013 Honor Award Winner, which is granted to an individual with a distinguished career of outstanding scientific and scholarly contributions to sports medicine and/or the exercise sciences. His primary area of interest is the biological growth and maturation of children and adolescents with a focus on performance, youth sports and young athletes, and the potential influences of physical activity and training for sport. He has also worked extensively with the anthropometric correlates of physique and body composition in female athletes at the university level. Dr. Malina is the author of Growth, Maturation, and Physical Activity, Second Edition.

Harold W. (Bill) Kohl, III, PhD, will receive the 2013 Citation Award, which is given to an individual or group who has made significant and important contributions to sports medicine and/or the exercise sciences. His research interests include current focuses on physical activity, exercise, fitness and health, and sports medicine surveillance systems for musculoskeletal injuries. In his recent efforts, he has concentrated on national and international physical activity surveillance and epidemiology issues as well as program development and evaluation studies for the promotion of school-based physical activity for children and adolescents. Dr. Kohl is the author of Foundations of Physical Activity and Public Health.

Congratulations, Dr. Malina and Dr. Kohl!
