Gaining the attacking edge in rugby
Gaining the attacking edge in rugby
The ball is passed continually away from would-be tacklers, so the passing team needs many players running in support of the ball carrier. The main types of rugby passes are the lateral pass, which travels sideways or backwards; the switch pass, which changes the direction of the play; and the loop pass, which helps to put a player either through a gap in the defensive line or into space around the far edge of the defence (overlap). Rugby's four principles of play
Rugby's four principles of play
The attacking team attempts to misshape the defence to create attacking space in which play makers can create situations that allow penetrators and support runners to go forward at speed. The ball carrier and support runners have their own keys to success in support, as noted in the following lists. Any kick ahead may leave the kicking team exposed to some form of counterattack.

How sleep deprivation can impair your day-to-day
How sleep deprivation can impair your day-to-day
Peter Tripp’s experiences are a fairly accurate case study of the consequences of sleep deprivation. A 2005 National Sleep Foundation poll investigated the relationship between sleep and the emotional health of teenagers (National Sleep Foundation, 2005). In a study of 44 college students, where half had 8 hours of sleep and half pulled an “all-nighter,” those without sleep performed statistically worse than those with a full night of sleep.
