Hyphens and Commas

Punctuate this article from the News-Gazelle, paying particular attention to commas and hyphens. Do not waste your time correcting the prose’s expression. Changes are highlighted below in yellow.

With 16 days remaining before the regular season opener the Bears don’t believe rookie Cade McNown is ready to be the starting line-up quarterback. Coach Dick Jauron announced that he needs more time to decide between McNown his acknowledged quarterback of the future and Shane Matthews the thought to be safe alternative who has given him reason to worry this pre-season.
In terms of our in-season games there’s nothing to be read into this Jauron said. McGown reassured reporters It shouldn’t be a huge concern because every body should be running the same routes and doing the same protections and the coaches are good enough coaches that they’re going to have everybody ready.
But I want to be sure to do the right thing and I’ve decided to stay in shape by going down to Club Kinetics Human Kinetics fully-equipped fitness center for extra training. If I want to work out there though Brian Holding says I have to lend a hand in the Editorial Department which is chronically-short of ball carriers such as myself. I figure to do manuscript prep for them starting on August 30 1999 and get the 52-Week Conditioning Plan series in shape by January 2000. In 1994 I learned this stuff in my high-school physical-education class taught by Anne Heiles D.M.A. who has a nonthreatening approach to quarter-backing. She knows my problem-solving in the gym transfers pretty well not only to working out time-sheets but also to upper-level weekly schedule updates. Last week she sent me an ill-prepared organizational chart and asked me to use the x and o system which is well-known to all aspiring QB’s. Over-rated according to some critics, the x and o system is a method of child-like beauty that lets you go the final 33 yd. distance. I mastered this when I was a 5-year-old but one teammate of mine a 25-year-old-man still cannot use it to find his way to his group leader’s in box without Coree Schutter intercepting him. I say its important to be unselfconscious and just tuck the damn schedule under your arm with the self awareness that you can make the beeline there under Julie Marxs protective wing. Shes no micromanager but a great co-manager with Lynn Hooper-Dash. She’ll let you know what’s non-negobable in a heart-beat. And she may be a master mind and a master builder but she’s no middle aged middle of the roader. So come mid September I’ll give the Bears this unheard of proposal that they can job share me with HK.
