The Marketing Graphic Design Associate (MGDA) is responsible for uploading marketing content to the Human Kinetics website, including but not limited to: copy packages, excerpts, articles, and merchandising features. Other responsibilities will include assisting in print design projects such as ads, fliers, and posters; and assisting in creating and sending emails.
Function 1 – Upload marketing copy packages to the HK website.
Load marketing copy to the HK website, applying a consistent formatting across all products for all divisions.
Once the product page is live, check the page for accuracy (in formatting and links) and make any additional edits.
Set up related items when all the product pages within a suite are live.
Function 2 – Upload content such as excerpts and articles to the HK website.
Load excerpts and articles to the HK website, ensuring each item follows standard formatting guidelines and is assembled in an attractive manner.
Load any images into the content management system that are needed for excerpts or articles.
Load sample pages and video clips and relate to the appropriate products and stores.
Set up related items for content that is uploaded.
Function 3 – Rotate storefront merchandising features and spotlight features on the HK website. Update the Hknow app on a weekly basis.
On a regular weekly basis, rotate new “In the Spotlight” features on the HK homepage.
Upload and rotate merchandising features on the various storefronts according to each store’s unique schedule.
Upload and rotate banner ads throughout the site as requested.
On a regular weekly basis, populate the Hknow app with new content assigned by marketing staff.
Function 4 – Assist in the creation and scheduling of outbound marketing e-mails.
Create e-mails using established templates in Lyris (e-mail platform).
Copy code into Dreamweaver to make advanced edits that are not capable in the Lyris environment.
Use established naming conventions for assets loaded into Lyris.
Schedule and deploy e-mails to the correct list segment name.
Coordinate the deployment of Lyris e-mails so multiple e-mails are not sent out at the same time.
Function 5 – Create aesthetic designs for ads, fliers, bookmarks, and posters as well as any other print design requests made by the marketing graphic design manager.
Understand the product vision and work consistently so the marketing manager is pleased with the final product design.
Use colors, screens, fonts, and other visual elements appropriately to create effective marketing pieces.
Make every effort to fit copy into available space for print pieces.
Consult with the marketing graphic design manager and/or marketing manager when appropriate to solve problems regarding layout and design.
Stay current on new design software and technologies.
Function 6 – Manage projects effectively to ensure priorities are set, deadlines are met, and the vision for each project is carried out.
Understand each project’s purpose and its use to eliminate the need for multiple rounds of corrections.
Follow priorities when completing projects.
Meet deadlines for initial round designs and complete corrections in a timely manner.
Adjust procedures or assignments as needed to address workflow problems or high priority projects.
Keep marketing graphic design manager and marketing managers informed on project status and any outstanding issues that may affect a project’s due date.
As time allows, participate in ongoing training , assist in managing common assets used by the marketing graphic design team, or assist in any other issues related to the improvement of departmental functions.
Function 7 – Communicate effectively and professionally with marketing and marketing graphic design staff. Follow established procedures for filing and archiving projects for future reference.
Participate actively and positively in department meetings.
Communicate regularly with the marketing graphic design manager about project status, priorities, and workload.
Acts as a design resource to other HK staff.
Communicates positively with marketing staff to deliver design projects. Discuss design and/or copy needs for assigned projects.
Collaborate with marketing staff and offer alternative but appropriate solutions to design challenges.
Properly archive print projects within established timelines. Provide marketing staff with complete archive number at completion of print projects.
Store and name working files (with links and fonts, including any layered psd files) accurately in staff folder on the K drive so any staff, in the event of an absence, can find them.
Function 8 – Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects.
