FUNCTION 1 SUMMARY: Maintain proper sanitation and organization of the dining room.
DESCRIPTION:
a. Keep service area wiped down and free from excessive spillage.
b. Wipe tables as they become available to be cleaned.
c. Spot sweep as necessary.
d. Empty trash regularly.
FUNCTION 2 SUMMARY: Maintain proper service standards as established by the Food Service Director.
DESCRIPTION:
a. Serve employees food and beverage line items for breakfast and lunch as necessary in a courteous and efficient manner.
b. Assist employees as needed with snacks and sundry food items.
c. Keep self-serve food and beverage items stocked and replenished.
d. Restock coffee supplies at satellite stations as necessary.
FUNCTION 3 SUMMARY: Clean & sanitize all dishware and trays and return stock throughout shift.
DESCRIPTION:
a. Set-up and maintain proper dish machine operation throughout shift.
1. Check soap and rinse chemical levels frequently and change when needed.
2. Change water in dishwasher 3 - 5 times per shift depending on business levels.
b. Maintain proper cleaning solution and towels for sanitizing trays throughout shift.
c. Maintain a system by which the trays are wiped and air dried continuously throughout shift in order to prevent excessive build up during peak periods.
d. Ensure that there are sufficient clean trays for each business trend throughout the shift.
FUNCTION 4 SUMMARY: Provide back-up support for other cafeteria staff through multi-station adaptability.
DESCRIPTION:
a. Prepare sandwich bar and make sandwiches as necessary.
b. Prepare hot lunch plates as necessary.
c. Maintain computer register system to insure the proper recording of each employee’s transaction.
d. Set-up and replenish salad bar items as necessary.
e. Prepare dessert plates as necessary.
FUNCTION 5 SUMMARY: Clean and sanitize food preparation areas throughout shift and as directed by
the Food Service Director.
DESCRIPTION:
a. Ensure that there are sufficient cleaning towels to wipe up spills and sanitize surfaces throughout shift.
b. Sanitize prep tables and work surfaces after each use.
c. Sweep and mop floors and mats as necessary to minimize hazardous conditions.
FUNCTION 6 SUMMARY: Maintain and execute a weekly cleaning schedule for equipment and areas
that are not cleaned on a daily basis.
DESCRIPTION:
a. Perform at least two major cleaning tasks per week as directed by the Food Service Director.
b. Maintain a daily and weekly cleaning log and submit to director each week.
c. Maintain a cleaning supply inventory and submit to director as necessary.
The Cafeteria Assistant must have good oral communication skill. He/she must be able to follow oral instruction well. The Cafeteria Assistant must be a team player and must be able to interact with others in a pleasant and positive manner.
The Cafeteria Assistant must be able to handle multiple tasking. He/she must be able to follow instruction well and work in a fast paced environment. The Cafeteria Assistant must have the ability to keep organized and prioritize tasks optimally.
The Cafeteria Assistant must be able to work standing for long periods of time.
This position requires some heavy lifting. The Cafeteria Assistant must be able to maintain the workspace and cafeteria in an organized fashion such that hazardous conditions are minimized.
High school degree or GED required
High standards of personal grooming
Must greet the customers in a warm and courteous manner
Must have the physical ability to perform all required tasks
High standard of cleanliness for kitchen equipment and cafeteria service area
Ability to work as a team
Previous experience in food service is helpful but not necessary
