Finding creative ways to use social media in physical education will be a leading theme when the North Carolina Center for Health and Wellness (NCCHW) at UNC Asheville hosts the third annual National Physical Education (PE) Institute. NCCHW will be live-streaming keynote speakers on their website at ncchw.unca.edu. This event is being held Monday July 28th through Wednesday, July 30th. Make sure you watch Tuesday afternoon (July 29), at 3:15-4:30 p.m. eastern time for more information on the Fitness for Life program. Here’s the title and description of HK author Guy Le Masurier’s presentation:
Developing Physical Literacy in Secondary Physical Education
The purpose of this session is to stimulate discussion about the development of physical literacy among adolescents, highlight how the existing Fitness Education framework guides secondary physical educators in the development of curricula that supports physical literacy, and inspire action among secondary physical educators to develop physically literate adolescents.
During the institute, participants and the public will also converse via Twitter about ways to improve physical education; follow #PEInstitute14 to join in the conversation.
If you are attending the conference, make sure to visit the Human Kinetics booth. We will be offering specials throughout the entire weekend such as 30% off on all applicable products.
