From the 18th to 20th of April 2012, the Rutis will organize the III World Congress on Active Aging, to be held at the Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon.
On April 18, the XXV General Assembly of the International Association of the Universities of the Third Age (AIUTA) will take place. It is the first time that universities around the world will meet in Portugal. On the same day the First Meeting of Research and Researchers in gerontology and aging will be held April 19 and 20 will be devoted exclusively to the work of the Congress, with four main subjects: Active Aging, a concept in (r)evolution; Friendly Environments/Places to the Seniors; Healthy Aging; New Trends in Education for those over 50 years.
This association launched the European Year of Active Aging and Solidarity between Generations in the past November 16, in Picoas Forum in Lisbon, to set the principle goals for this year. The principal objective is to encourage and support the efforts of member states, their regional and local authorities, social partners, civil society and citizens in general to promote active aging population. It was also a signed memorandum of cooperation between the Rutis and PT foundation, also part of the activities this year, and presented the book “Ideas for an Active Aging”, co-authored by the president of Rutis, Luis Jacob.
