On April 18, 2012, the municipality of Anadia started classes on the project titled "Active Aging is Life." The main objective of this initiative is the achievement of outdoor physical activity for the elderly of the social institutions in the country (in social reponse to the third age area), and older people of the general community. Activity of this nature has never taken place in the council.
Classes occur once a month, and the third class was on June 13, 2012 in the Termas de Vale da Mó. The next class will be held on July 18, 2012 in Velódromo de Sangalhos. These classes begin at 10:00 am and are open to all seniors of the city community. This activity is part of the 2012 action plan of the Soical Network of Anadia, under the European Year of Active Aging and Intergenerational Solidarity. There are about 230 seniors participating.
The city of Anadia wants the senior community to enjoy the outdoor spaces that the country offers. The creation of this activity took into account the promotion of interinstitutional interaction between the different parishes of the county.
