New Age of Aging: Mini-Grant Recipients of 2010

In 2010, a total of $63,000 was awarded to 21 members of the Alliance for Children & Families as part of the New Age Aging initiative’s mini-grant program. Upon receiving a grant of $3000, each organization is expected to provide high-quality programs and services to older adults. The organizations that applied for the grant do not need to have any experience in providing services and programs for the older community. The services include providing older adults with the opportunity to volunteer so that they will become more engaged in their communities and helping older adults take care of their grandchildren. Some programs are not directly involved with helping older adults but still have an impact on the community; these include providing more information and programs to staff who will complete training for certification to help older adults in their volunteering efforts. All of these organizations provide many programs and services that cover a broad range of issues.

For more details about the services and programs provided, go to the Alliance for Children & Families Web site.
