Many older Americans put off going to the dentist because they don’t have dental insurance (Medicare doesn’t cover most dental services). Some older adults choose to pay their dental expenses out of pocket because the premiums are so high.
There is a third option that many seniors are turning to. Discount dental plans have monthly fees of $10 to $12, and participants choose from a network of dentists who give 10 to 60 percent rate reductions for certain services.
