People over age 50 should stay active by doing sports or exercise, yet there are still too many barriers preventing them from keeping active, according to organizations in the Netherlands. For this reason, 24 organizations joined forces and signed a document called Fit for Life. Sports organizations, senior alliances, education and research institutions, social organizations, businesses, and a health insurer promised joint action for the campaign. On December 2, 2009, the document "Fit for Life" was signed. The Dutch Institute for Sport and Physical Activity (NISB) is the coordinator of Fit for Life the Netherlands.
