The Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS), an inter-university institute of the University of Bremen (UB) and Jacobs University, invites applications to its Ph.D. and post-doc program, which provides close supervision of dissertation work within a demand-tailored education and research framework. The language of instruction is English. BIGSSS seeks candidates for 20 Ph.D. stipends/fellowships and 6 to 8 post-doc stipends/fellowships.
Successful applicants will pursue a topic in one of these fields: Global Integration; Integration and Diversity in the New Europe; Social Integration and the Welfare State; Attitude Formation, Value Change, and Intercultural Communication; and Life-Course and Lifespan Dynamics. Ph.D. fellowships will start September 1, 2009, and post-docs may start later. Non-German students are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications may be received until March 15, 2009.
