The National Institute of Aging (NIA) hosts the Summer Institute on Aging Research for new investigators in the field of aging research. This workshop provides investigators the opportunity to engage with NIA experts to discuss new aging research findings and methodologies, and receive support for grant applications. In addition, the summer workshop provides early- and mid-career investigators the opportunity to exchange successes and challenges with NIA experts.
During the workshop, NIA experts provide information to participants about the aging field. Large sessions provide a range of topics including research design, the biology of aging, media training, statistical analysis, grant support, exercise, and Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Intimate breakout sessions, held by experts in aging research, focus on being a researcher and help participants develop strategies for a successful career.
