Quality of Life Project for Older People in Daily Living Home Care, Costa Rica

By Luis Solano-Mora, Costa Rica

The Quality of Life Project for Older People in Daily Living Home Care is a project of the MOVI Program, which was developed by the School of Sports Sciences, Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica.

The project is focused on increasing the Quality of Life (QOL) and preventing the pathological aging of the older people who spend part of the day in a Living Home Care using physical activity and physical exercises to pursue better QOL.

The Project has about 70 older participants who receive physical activity and physical exercises 1 day a week for an hour and a half. Once in a while, the Project does workshops about healthy lifestyles, and it gives the opportunity to the students of the Universidad Nacional to increase their skills to work with this population.

Professionals who are involved in related areas can contact MBA Inés Revuelta (general coordinator) by e-mail at movimien@una.ac.cr. For more information (in Spanish), go to http://www.una.ac.cr/ecd/movi.htm.
