Copyright Assignment Form                        Editorial Ethics Policy

Manuscript: Manuscripts must be double-spaced with 12-point font and 1-inch margins. Text (not including title page and references) must not exceed 7 pages. Concise presentation of highly focused content, consisting of 1200-2000 words (4–7 pages), is required for publication.

Title Page: The title page should include: (1) designation of the ATT column that the author(s) consider most appropriate for the subject of the report, (2) the title of the report, (3) at least 3 key words that are not included in the title, and (4) 3 or 4 “key points” in the form of short sentences (12 words or less). Author name(s) should not appear anywhere within the manuscript file.

Text: The manuscript should include an introduction that establishes the purpose and importance of the report. The content that follows should be organized by headings and subheadings.

References: Key references should be cited (AMA style), but long reference lists are discouraged. References must be numbered consecutively, using superscript numerals in the text, in the order in which they are cited.

Figures and Tables: All submissions should include some graphic elements (e.g., photos, tables, line art, charts) that are identified in the text with consecutive numbers. A brief caption must be provided for each figure and table at the end of the manuscript text. All graphics should be submitted in separate files, with file names that correspond to the numbered text reference. JPEG or TIFF images should be 300-dpi resolution at full size for photos, 600 dpi if scans of line art.

Author Info: In a separate file, provide the following information: manuscript title, author name(s) (including middle initials), credentials of author(s), and a brief biographical note (~30 words) for each author, including position titles and institutional affiliations.
Submission: All materials must be uploaded to the following website: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/hk_att. A single file containing title page (without author identification), text, and reference list should be submitted, along with a separate file containing author information and separate image files for each illustration and table.
Review Policy: An associate editor and at least one other reviewer assess the content of each manuscript. A topic that cannot be adequately addressed with 1200-2000 words might be approved for publication as a 2-part column appearing in 2 successive issues. Such work must be presented in two separate manuscripts (1200-2000 words each) that are submitted simultaneously. A manuscript submitted to ATT must not be submitted to any other journal while under review. When a manuscript is accepted for publication, an editor (editor-in-chief, section editor, or associate editor) will work with the author to improve the presentation of the work. ATT editors reserve the right to edit all content to correct grammatical errors, to ensure accuracy of the information presented, and to fit space restrictions.

Copyright: Authors of manuscripts accepted for publication must transfer copyright to Human Kinetics. A transfer of copyright form will be sent to the author from Human Kinetics before publication. If a manuscript submission contains any previously published material (table, figure, or quote of more than 200 words), the author must obtain written permission from the original publisher to reprint the material and pay any associated fees. Such documentation ideally should be obtained before submission and must be received by Human Kinetics before the work can be published.

Complimentary Copies: Authors will be provided with a 30-day complimentary online subscription to ATT rather than a print issue. This will allow authors to access content that could only appear online, as well as giving them an opportunity to view the entire archive of back issues of ATT, which is available to every subscriber during the 30 days of free access. The new system of providing 30-day online complimentary subscriptions to authors will take effect beginning with the first issue of the 2009 volume year.
